Biography

Melissa Yu, MD, FAAN is a board-certified neurologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology with extensive expertise in neurodegenerative diseases and brain health. She is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her neurology training at Baylor College of Medicine.

Prior to joining Synapticure, Dr. Yu served on the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine for more than a decade, advancing through the academic ranks to Professor of Neurology. During her tenure, she also served as a Physician Informaticist, as Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders Center, and was the site Principal Investigator for numerous clinical trials, including the landmark U.S. POINTER study. In addition, Dr. Yu has held multiple leadership positions within the American Academy of Neurology, contributing to national initiatives in clinical care, education, and research.

Dr. Yu is deeply dedicated to helping patients and their families navigate the complexities of neurodegenerative diseases with clarity, compassion, and evidence-based care.
