About the Expert

Biography

I was born and raised in a small town in Indiana. Blessed with the unwavering support of my parents, the unchecked adoration of my grandparents, and the temporizing tough love of an older brother, I had all the elements I needed to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.

My training has taken me from Indiana to Nebraska, and from there to Arizona and North Carolina, where I currently live.

I received my medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, completed my internal medicine residency at Carolinas Medicinal Center, and performed my fellowship in geriatric medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health. I currently specialize in geriatric medicine, with expertise in primary care, long-term nursing home care, and memory/cognitive assessments, with a particular passion and focus on dementia care.

I am engaged in multiple different research studies involving cognitive health and dementia care.

In addition to being a physician, I am a devoted mother ( 1 human and 2 fur babies) and avid reader.
